VOXON PHOTONICS AND LIVE VOLUMETRIC BROADCASTING

BROADCASTING IN 3D TO VOLUMETRIC DISPLAYS

Volumetric video is a fusion of digital video recording and depth sensor data, resulting in a spatialised 3D captured moving image. Volumetric images are becoming increasingly prevalent and sophisticated. This is driven largely by augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) production.

Currently there are a handful of content creators and enthusiasts developing this technology. The technology has yet to be explored in its full expressive potential, particularly in proceduraly intense, interactive forms such as video games.

Voxon’s technology can natively view volumetric data and is the ideal way to display volumetric captured video. In the future, volumetric captured data will be as common as traditional video. In sports bars, rather than watch the sport on TV, people with gather around large Volumetric displays and watch live “Holograms” as they are streamed from stadiums and arenas equipped with the latest stereo photogrammetric camera systems such as Intel’s TrueView technology or Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Capture technology.
